His first book was pacy, breathless which often robbed its historical essence. The buildup is definitely slower in Captain of Rome, allowing the readers to go into more depth with characters. Buell, USN (Ret.) was a noted naval historian the author of several books, most notably Master of Seapower: A Biography of Fleet Admiral Ernest J.

King and The Quiet Warrior: A Biography of Admiral Raymond A. died in "Master of My Dreams", Book 1 of Heroes of the Sea series was not as engaging as Book 2. (I read them out of order.)
